The stores are stocking up with holiday chocolates and red velvet candy boxes, all while people are still reviewing their New Year’s resolutions. As if the pressure from the holiday season wasn’t enough, happy couples are thinking about February 14, while singles are starting to dread Valentines Day and anxiety is mounting. One more step
Maybe things will get better. Or maybe if I break up with him, then I will regret it and he will never take me back. Every relationship has ups and downs, but it can be hard sometimes to figure out whether or not you should break up with your boyfriend or girlfriend.
If you are a regular reader of my blog I’m sure you will be happy to learn that in January – after about 18 months – I finally met a SINGLE smart, handsome Indian power guy (ahhhh the best kind!) who I basically fell head-over-heels coo coo for ‘at first sight’ and we started dating.
He felt the same way and for a few weeks we dated, spending every possible moment together getting to know each other. First, it was great to realise that not all Indian men are afraid to be with a white, divorced women for fear of what their parents will say. The second thing that happened really took me by surprise. I am used to being stared at simply because I look different and stand out here in India. I never take it negatively because everyone takes a peek just out of curiosity.
From cute groups of nuns-in-training power walking around Richards Park in their sweet pink sarees, to little girls who wave as they pass by me, to uni students or power women and, of course, most Indian men who spot me. Normally it never bothers me at all but this time it did. Then she proceeded to point, bring in what looked like her sister into the gossip-fest … they pointed, laughed.

Whether he officially says he needs space or he just disappears, this situation usually causes problems in the relationship because a guy and a girl will see it in two totally different ways. The girl will usually see it as some kind of rejection or abandonment and will go into crisis mode. In my opinion, breaks are usually a big sign of trouble.
However, it is possible for things to go back to normal as long as both people use the break time properly. A guy will usually spend this time trying to get back on his A-game.
Editor’s Note: A little while back, I was having a conversation online with a close guy friend of mine about “breaks.” As we learned from Ross on “Friends,” the rules of being on a break can get murky and may wind up costing you your entire relationship.
First, I used PicMonkey to design my mini-book cards, utilizing some of my favorite fonts: In between each sheet of cardstock, I included cut-outs of red, pink, and gray scrapbook paper for added whimsy. It makes the collection even more thick and colorful! You could even replace the scrapbook paper with memorabilia or photographs. I cut out all my cardstock and scrapbook paper dividers, punched holes in the upper-left corner of each of them, and strung them on a binder ring.
Since publishing this initial post, I created a new-and-improved version of this printable with new color schemes, cover options, occasion cards…and so much more.
Why Guys Disappear and How to Deal
Valentine’s Day Eve “Shit,” was the first word that came to mind. Reasons and all the other excuses were eloquently written out in black and white, but in the end, she was dumping me on February thirteenth, the day before Valentine’s Day—of all things. Incompatibility, not meeting her needs, and my working most weekends, were the three big reasons she listed. That was a nice way of saying she didn’t want me to go off on her the next time we saw one another.
If this was the first time I’d been dumped it wouldn’t have been so bad, but it wasn’t. It was becoming the norm rather than the exception, and I had no one but myself to blame.
Yesterday I had an amazing one-on-one date with a beautiful young lady by the name of Paisley. I say “one-on-one” because not all my previous dates followed that norm (Luckily I learned my lesson).
You can read more of his stories on his blog. Russell and his brother Ellis The Number 14 I woke up, got ready, and was sitting in my Sociology class before I realized today was a holiday. From the moment those phonemes sounded from her vocal chords, I began a day that informed me over and over again just how single, and how lonely, I was. There had been no slamming doors before she left, nor yelling. In fact, the only thing we ever really disagreed upon was whether or not leaving would help her to sort out her depression.
And there I was, standing in the doorway of our college apartment scratching my head, wondering what went wrong and what I could have done differently. Not to me, anyway. Months later, and after a judge signed some papers that signified an end, she came back to town so she could finish her schooling. Fast forward six weeks after school started back up again, and there I was in Sociology celebrating Single Awareness Day.
I had never in my life found it so difficult to concentrate as that day.
